This bridge — the Ponte Vecchio — became world-famous when Claude Monet painted it in 1884. Captivated by its light, form, and perfect reflection in the water, Monet described Dolceacqua as “a jewel of lightness.” Today, standing on the same spot, you can still feel the magic that inspired his brushstrokes.

Nestled in the green valley of the Nervia River, Dolceacqua is one of Liguria’s most enchanting medieval villages — a place where art, history, and wine come together in timeless harmony. The village is split in two by a graceful stone bridge that arches elegantly over the river, connecting the old borgo, with its winding alleys and ancient houses, to the newer part of town.

No visit to Dolceacqua is complete without tasting its signature wine, Rossese di Dolceacqua.

Above the village towers the Doria Castle, a medieval fortress that has watched over Dolceacqua since the 12th century. Climb up through the narrow cobblestone streets to explore its ruins, terraces, and exhibitions — and to enjoy panoramic views stretching across the valley and down to the sea.

No visit to Dolceacqua is complete without tasting its signature wine, Rossese di Dolceacqua. Grown on the sun-soaked terraces surrounding the village, this ruby-red wine is full of character — soft, elegant, and perfumed with notes of wild berries and herbs. It’s a true reflection of the land itself: rich, warm, and quietly refined.
